Formerly the site of a monastery, Nostell Priory, an 18th-century treasure house is situated just 5 miles from Wakefield centre.
It's an oasis of calm, with exquisite interiors by James Paine and Robert Adam, furniture by Chippendale, a collection of paintings and a very special library.

Take a stroll around the gardens, taking in the formal rose garden, the recently planted orchard and vegetable garden. Then wander across the west lawn, down to the lakeside walks, the pleasure gardens and the menagerie gardens. Chat to one of our gardeners who will be happy to answer your queries.

The parkland
There are over 300 acres of parkland to explore at Nostell. You can wander the footpaths past the Robert Adam boat house at the end of the lower lake up to the Obelisk Lodge, down the Vista to the ha ha, through Joiner's wood. Or just go where you fancy and enjoy the peace and quiet.

The Stables at Nostell are now fully open.
Start your journey with us at our new facilities then come and have lunch or afternoon tea in the Courtyard Cafe.
We also have a brand new plant sales area, and don't forget to visit the shop for a souvenir of your stay.

With rolling countryside, woods and tracks, Nostell Park is a tranquil oasis just 5 miles from Wakefield city centre. It's an ideal place to bring the family for a winter walk. We're open from dawn till dusk every day.
