The home of one of the most remarkable men of the 20th century
Nuffield Place reveals the surprisingly down-to-earth lives of Lord Nuffield, founder of the Morris Motor Company, and his wife. Their home and personal possessions are just as they left them, the decor and furnishings intact.
From the comfortable sitting room with a small black and white TV, to Lord Nuffield's humble bedroom with a secret built-in workshop, this intimate home exudes the tastes and interests of its remarkable owner.
Restoring a garden to its former glory
Both Lord and Lady Nuffield loved their garden often spending hours tending to the flowers and pottering around doing odd jobs.
The whole estate covers just over 9 acres , with a 4 acre garden which was laid out by the architect of the house, there are lawns, herbaceous borders, a wildflower meadow, vegetable garden and even a rock garden.
The garden team are currently working hard to restore the garden to its former glory with changes happening on a weekly basis.
