Claire proves it's not all about cake at Nymans

We have over 300 volunteers in a range of roles across Nymans, both in front of and behind the scenes. The work our volunteers do varies enormously, from the Garden Rangers on hand to answer questions in the garden, to the Photography Volunteers standing by to snap our special moments.
We depend on the help of all of our volunteers to make Nymans the special place that it is, and for all their hard work, we reward them with cake. Here to prove it's not all about the cake is Claire Lloyd, our Marketing team volunteer.
Claire is a marketing volunteer who recently joined Nymans to help promote all our events and activities, especially the open air theatre coming up this Summer. Claire updates our listings on non National Trust websites and will be working closely with the Local Ambassador team in getting leaflets and posters distributed locally which advertise Nymans and all it has to offer.
Here's what Claire has to say about volunteering here:
I have visited National Trust properties and gardens ever since I was a little girl. Living in Haywards Heath as I have done for ten years with husband Paul, I have grown to love Nymans and when the opportunity arose to volunteer here I was very keen to get going.
I am now volunteering in Marketing with Lisa, our marketing officer, and am able to use skills gained through recent roles with the Campaign to Protect Rural England and the South Downs National Park Authority, and to learn new things as someone relatively new to Marketing and Communications.
I spent twenty years in Human Resources after graduating with a degree in Geography and Sociology, and then more recently took some time out to pursue some personal challenges including studying a Diploma in Environmental Policy. I have a strong interest in the environment and in cultural heritage and with my relatively new skills this makes my role at Nymans a perfect combination.
I have found volunteering here very inspiring, surrounded by keen staff and volunteers who have a strong passion for Nymans, and I continue to love to visit the woodlands at the weekend with my hubby and Labrador dog Dave.
