Current volunteering opportunities

This is an excellent opportunity for anyone wishing to gain experience in event management. Take the lead in planning and developing an event or lend a hand at our activity weekends. The Visitor Programme Team provides a range of activities and events to help our visitors get the most from their visit.

House and gallery assistants

The House Team are currently looking for room stewards to provide a warm welcome to visitors into the Messel home and ruins. Gallery assistants are also needed to supervise our gallery space and provide information to visitors about our changing exhibition programme.

Visitor reception

Visitor reception volunteers help us to meet and greet visitors when they arrive at Nymans, providing orientation and news of what's on and assisting with special needs e.g. wheelchair hire. Reception volunteers also head off-site to help promote Nymans and the National Trust to local communities.

Meet some of our volunteers

  • Claudie proves it's not all about cake at Nymans

We simply couldn't do all that we do without our fabulous volunteers. They give us their time, energy and dedication and in return we give them...cake. Here to prove that there is more to volunteering than just the cake is Claudie Timms, one of our valued Plant Centre volunteers who also co-coordinates our annual Nymans Garden Advent Calendar.

  • Jean proves it's not all about the cake at Nymans

We simply couldn't do all that we do without our fabulous volunteers. They give us their time, energy and dedication and in return we give them...cake. Here to prove that there is more to volunteering than just the cake is Jean Plaskett, one of our valued volunteer flower ladies who also co-coordinates our annual Nymans Garden Advent Calendar.

  • Alison proves it's not all about cake at Nymans

We have over 300 volunteers in a range of roles across Nymans, both in front of and behind the scenes. The work our volunteers do varies enormously, from the garden rangers on hand to answer questions in the garden, to the photography volunteers standing by to snap our special moments. We depend on the help of all of our volunteers to make Nymans the special…

  • Claire proves it's not all about cake at Nymans

We'd like to introduce Claire, a marketing volunteer who recently joined Nymans to help promote all our events and activities.
