This year the Visitor Reception team at Nymans started attending local events and locations to help promote the benefits of National Trust membership and to recruit volunteers to help support us. We're out communicating our important work and inviting you to join in the fun.
We pack up our little van with signs, furniture, activities, sun and rain protection (we often have need of both), and lots of free goodies and head off to spread the word. So far this year we’ve been to the South of England Show, Bentley Weald Woodfair, Brighton Pride and very recently to the South of England Contemporary Crafts for Christmas Show, to name just a few. We've communicate important messages:
- National Trust – a charity working to preserve and protect historic places and spaces – forever, for everyone.
- We protect and manage 630,000 acres of land of outstanding natural beauty, 709 miles of coastline, over 300 historic houses and 200 gardens.
- To do this we are dependent on the support of our 4 million members, 61,500 volunteers, 17.7 million visitors, as well as partners and benefactors.
But it's not all as serious as that. There's fun activities to join in with too. This year at Pride we created a communal artwork - a vibrant scene of flowers. It never ceases to amaze us just how eager people are for a spot of finger painting. At Bentley we hosted a snail race and a log-balancing trail. It's worth stopping by when you see us out and about and discovering what fun you can get up to.
We really enjoy getting out and about in Sussex and meeting new people. It’s always a surprise to meet people who know nothing about the work of the National Trust and a delight to share with them information about our diverse places.
