Watercolour of the garden at Nymans by Victorian painter Alfred Parsons

Following on from the success of The Wind in the Willows, this autumn the gallery at Nymans will be holding its first open show. You are invited to submit work for the chance of it being displayed in the gallery over autumn and winter.

Inspired by Nymans

The theme for this year's open show is 'Inspired by Nymans'. And there are plenty of elements to draw inspiration from, be it the beautiful gardens, haunting ruins or perhaps something altogether more abstract.

The creative Messel family

Each generation of the Messel family immersed itself in the art world. From Oliver Messel's designs for stage and screen to the photography of his nephew Lord Snowdon, the Messel family had a wide variety of creative talents.

Following in this tradition we hope the exhibition will encourage you to create art every bit as diverse as that which the family enjoyed.

Further information and application forms are available from the gallery or you can download a form from the website (PDF).

The submission deadline for artwork is Sunday 13 October and the exhibition will run from Saturday 16 November until Sunday 23 February 2014, opening every day from 10am - 4.30pm. Last entry is 4pm.
