This impressive mansion was a redbrick Tudor house built in 1576 by Sir Thomas Gresham. Acquired by Sir Francis Child in 1713 as the perfect symbol of his new status and prosperity; Sir Francis engaged Robert Adam from 1760 to remodel and transform Osterley into 'the palace of palaces' that you see today.

Our Pleasure Grounds are a peaceful haven in which to stroll, sit and think. There were once extensive hot-houses in the adjacent Walled Garden, producing plants and flowers for the house. Today, volunteers grow and arrange the varied flowers that fill the house throughout the year.
