Over the winter

The house is now being put to bed for the winter and the team are busy cleaning and packing away precious items.

We re-open our doors for guided tours at the end of February before fully opening on 14 March.

Our story of the Saloon flood

What happened?

One day in 2011, everything changed in our Saloon: our comfortable family sitting room was flooded.

Our team pulled together and immediately started the salvage operation.

After the salvage, the Saloon needed time to dry, a chance to display it differently.

We gave you the opportunity to decide how you would've decorated the Plas Newydd Saloon.

What next?

By now we're none the wiser that anything happened in the Saloon.

Conservators have been working on the furnishings to return them to their original conditions.

Visit in 2014 to see if you can spot any differences.
