Medieval house with later architectural features
Discover Shute Barton, a medieval house with royal connections. A building of battlements and towers set in the rolling east Devon countryside, this historic house is the perfect place to stay for an unforgettable holiday and is available to hire all year round.
This magnificent house is also open to members of the public four times a year for guided tours. You can discover the great kitchen containing what is believed to be the largest fireplace in England and take a look at the attic room with its medieval roof structure.
Please note that Shute Barton is primarily a holiday cottage. It is open to the public for guided tours on 20 & 21 September and 18 & 19 October. Tours do not require booking. For more information please see our opening times.
