Perfectly positioned for exploring the world famous Jurassic Coast and Hardy Country; spend the morning fossil collecting at Lyme Regis beach, then slip off for lunch at the River Cottage Canteen. Grab a picnic and explore the rolling countryside or enjoy an historic tram ride through the nearby Axe Valley marshes.

Dating partly from 1380, this incredible house is topped with battlements, turrets and gothic windows. Complete with modern facilities and room for up to 10 people (plus cot), Shute is ideal for a family gathering or a large group of friends.

Explore the Great Kitchen containing what is thought to be the largest fireplace in England and watch the surprise on guests' faces as you open the door to the medieval great hall. Relax after a day’s sight seeing, soaking up the sun and playing games in the sprawling garden which even contains an old orchard.

Shute Barton can accommodate 10 guests and a cot.

• Two bedrooms with double beds (one bedroom has 17th-century panelling and the other features high medieval windows)
• Two bedrooms with double beds with en-suites with showers. (One bedroom can be made into a twin bed upon request)

• Large kitchen with ‘American style’ fridge/freezer, separate wine cooler, dishwasher and large gas range style cooker
