We need you
With 7 day opening and a packed events programme for 2012 Sizergh is on the lookout for more than 50 enthusiastic volunteers to join their 130 strong volunteering team.
Nicola Baker is Sizergh’s Visitor Experience Manager:
'We’ve got a very exciting year ahead. We’re already busy as this winter, for the first time, we’ve got parts of the garden open on weekends right through until March. The house itself opens on 11 March – and then it’s full steam ahead for the new season.'
Nicola continues, 'We're looking for volunteers to help in the modern, airy gift shop which is receiving additional investment. Raffle ticket sellers are also needed – last year volunteers raised over £5,000 to buy winter bulbs for the garden.'
Staying in the garden, around 15 more garden guides and garden assistants are needed to ensure 7 day opening runs smoothly as well as getting involved in various garden tasks.
Meanwhile in the house, the 100 strong contingent of room guides are looking for new volunteers to join them – anyone with an interest in history or who enjoys talking to the public is very welcome; whilst out on the estate, volunteers are being sought to help with conservation work – from fixing walls and footpaths to managing woodlands.
You should have a pleasant, enthusiastic personality, enjoy meeting people and working as part of a team, and for the estate roles, be reasonably fit.
