Ways to help

Looking after our house and garden at Standen is an expensive task. Can you help us protect them, for ever, for everyone?

There are many ways to support our work; becoming a volunteer, buying a raffle ticket, making a donation, or by leaving a gift in your will.

You can make a difference by helping us continue to protect and care for Standen.

Property raffle 2014

The rooms are all presented at different times of the day

Buying £1 raffle ticket during your visit to Standen helps us raise funds for this year's conservation project;  the re-display of the Westbourne bedroom as Maggie Beale's artist studio from the 1920s. Tickets can be bought at Visitor reception, our shop or café.

Tully the tractor

Tully the Tractor in front of the rocks on the drive at Standen

Proceeds from the 2012 property raffle helped volunteers to restore Tully, our 1965 Massey Ferguson 135 tractor.
Tully's bodywork and engine were completely stripped then lovingly restored, and she can now be seen working in our gardens and woodland.

Family bedspread

Embroidered bedspread conserved by Standen raffle contributions

Money from the 2012 and 2013 raffle is helping to conserve a bedspread embroidered by family member, Amy Worthington. It is a beautifully worked piece, with a variety of stitching and will be of great interest to lovers of embroidery.

Sitting comfortably?

Relax on our Standen deckchairs

We would like to provide more deckchairs around the garden for our visitors, each decorated with a historic photograph of Standen. If you would like to make a donation towards the chairs, please contact 01342 323029.

Bringing a shine to Standen

Cost of conservation

We are currently raising funds to protect our metal work items, many of which were made by significant Arts & Crafts designers. This is a muffin dish by CR Ashbee before work was carried out.

The muffin dish was re-silvered as the silver plate had been worn away over time, but most of our pieces will only need an in-depth clean and lacquer to restore them to their former glory. If you would like to contribute, please call 01342 323029.

Giving your time

Over 400 volunteers dedicate their time to Standen. Volunteering is an enjoyable and rewarding way to meet people and support the work we do. We've a wide range of volunteering opportunities and would love to hear from you if you would like to share some of your time.

Gift in will

As a charity, we depend on legacies and donations to help us continue our vital work.  We appreciate that leaving a legacy is a very personal gesture.  If Standen is particularly close to your heart, making a gift in your will would help us continue to protect our property.

Donating to Standen

Every year, one third of adults make donations to charity either in memory of a loved one or to mark an anniversary or birthday.  Please contact us if you would like to give a monetary gift or donation towards an item on 01342 323029.
