'Capability' found - Where it all began

Behind the seamless creation of the gardens at Stowe laid the design of several great men including that of Lancelot ‘Capability’ Brown. His monumental Grecian Valley, Corinithian Arch and naturalised style dominate the landscape at Stowe. This is where it all began for Brown, his only ever place of employment before he moved on to transform the English countryside.

Forever, for everyone

If you're concerned about your groups accessibility needs, we hope you'll feel confident in coming to Stowe. Everyone should have the opportuity to see this breath-taking garden and we'll be pleased to help in any way we can. Our visitor centre - the New Inn is fully accesible with a lift in our welcome area.

The more energetic visiitors can walk down the Bell Gate Drive to the gardens entrance or if you fancy a more relexng start we have mobility buggies that can shuttle you back and forth. For those less able we have mobility buggies avilble to hire with a suggested donation of £10 for up to two hours which can be used to travel and see Stowe in style. There are uneven and varying terrains at Stowe - we can recommend certain routes for ease and we always suggest wearing good walking shoes.
