At Sutton House we're looking for a Community and Events intern to work with school groups, assist with our Black History Month project and support our family activities and events programme.  We're not looking for previous experience or qualifications just enthusiasm and passion.

What's a Community and Events intern?

As a Community and Events intern, you’ll get involved in some really interesting projects here at Sutton House, including our annual Black History Month exhibition trail and our primary school educational sessions – where we work with school children in the local community to bring to life the history of the Tudors.  What’s more, you’ll learn all about how we run Sutton House and you’ll create enjoyable experiences for our visitors.  This is a vital part of our work and requires enthusiasm, dedication and care.

Are you looking for someone with loads of experience?

We’re not looking for experience -  we're looking for someone with bags of enthusiasm who wants to experience the work we do at Sutton House.  You don’t need qualifications or work experience, just a willingness to learn and a big smile for our visitors.  However to be eligible for the role, you will need to be aged between 18-24 and a Job Seekers Allowance claimant at the time of applying.  In return, we’ll give you a job for 26 weeks, full training, a great set of skills and a helping hand to get you into full time work.  26 weeks well spent and an experience that’s sure to impress future employers.

What are the hours and pay?

This role is based on a fixed term contract for 26 weeks, where you’ll work 30 hours per week.
Here at Sutton House, we’ve been working closely with the Creative Employment Programme (a £15m Arts Lottery fund) to support the creation of paid internship opportunities for those aged 18-24, who are unemployed. This role is funded through the Creative Employment Programme.
