An easy ride suitable for all. Cycle along Monks Lode, with views across Baker's and Guinea Hall Fens.

Look out for birds, highland cattle and konik ponies. 

For a little extra you could pop over to Charlie's Hide.

25.7 km - Minimum 3 hrs

Take the Lodes Way across the fens to Anglesey Abbey. Visit the house, gardens and historic watermill, Hoe Fen wildlife discovery area, or just relax with a cup of tea in the Redwoods Restaurant.

Feeling more adventurous - try cycling the Upware Loop, more off road cycling which passes the Five Miles from Anywhere Pub.

We have a modern range of adult and children's bikes, trikes,tags and trailers for hire.

Open daily from 29 March - 2 November, 10am -5pm (last hire 3.30pm).

 

Hire rates

  • Adult: First 2 hours £8, then £3 per hour
  • Child: First 2 hours £5, then £2 per hour
  • Adult with child seat: First 2 hours £8.50, then £3 per hour
  • Trailer / tag: First 2 hours £14, then £5 per hour
  • Disabled trike or tag available at standard rates
  • 20% discount for group hire of 10 bikes

We have a range of tri-cycles for hire ideal for adults and children with physical or learning difficulties.

Arriving by bike

Cycling the Lodes Way and not a hill insight

Wicken Fen is 9 miles from Ely via National Cycle Route (NCN) 11.

From Cambridge take NCN Route 51 and then NCN Route 11 (The Lodes Way) at Bottisham

Security & repair

Bike hoops at Wicken Fen

We have cycle hoops close to the Visitor Centre where you can secure your bike - locks (and puncture repair kits) can be borrowed from Cycle Hire or the Visitor Centre.

 

Community cycle ride

Thursdays at 10.30am

Join us for an easy paced, 6 -7 mile cycle ride along the Lodes Way & quiet country roads.

Bring your own bike or hire one for £2.

Meet outside main Visitor Centre.
