Volunteering at Upton gives you a great opportunity to develop your experience and knowledge in a flexible and supportive way.
Some ways students can get involved at Upton:
• Providing great customer service
• Get some great experience of retail, selling everything from sweets to garden plants or learn more about how to deliver quality food and drinks to our visitors in our restaurant.
• Communicating the story of the house
• Supporting the busy events programme
How does student volunteering work?
Let us know what you are looking for and we can suggest the best roles or opportunities. We have welcomed students looking for work based placements as part of course, and degree; internships; and those gathering experience when between studies or jobs.
What would suit you?
Interested in fine art or interior design? Studying the history of the 20th-century? Guiding at Upton allows you great access to our collections and history and will develop your confidence and communication skills.
Looking to brush up your performance skills? Happy to chat to visitors as they listen to your playing? You can be part of the special atmosphere of Upton by playing on the beautiful Bechstein Grand in the long gallery.
Creating a great first impression for visitors is really important. You'll need to explain how they can make the most of their visit, as well as selling the benefits of membership and dealing efficiently with ticket and guide book sales. Great customer service experience.
