Lights, camera, action. Our houses, gardens and countryside estates could be the perfect film set...

Behind the camera at Aberdulais

We have been hosting film shoots as far back as 1960 when Cary Grant filmed scenes for the 'The Grass is Greener' at London's Osterley Park and House.

'The Dirty Dozen' made an appearance at our Buckinghamshire and Hertfordshire countryside property Ashridge in 1967 and a little more recently, Monty Python's iconic Queen Victoria sketch was shot at Ham House and Garden in Richmond.

With such a wide variety of buildings, countryside and coastline on offer we now have an average of three crews filming on our land every day. We very much welcome filming and accommodate projects large and small from feature films such as 'Pride and Prejudice', 'The Duchess' and 'Miss Potter', to fashion photo shoots, documentaries and TV dramas.

Recent filming
We closed Basildon Park in Berkshire for seven weeks in 2004 to accommodate large scale filming for 'Pride and Prejudice'. This closure resulted in a massive increase in visitors to the house. Our houses, gardens and estates have featured in many films, TV dramas, documentaries and magazines over recent years, including:

Films:
'Sherlock Holmes', 'The Wolfman', 'Alice in Wonderland', 'Robin Hood', 'Gulliver's Travels', 'Dorian Gray'

TV dramas:

'Miss Marple', 'Poirot', 'New Tricks', 'Spooks', 'Primeval'

Documentaries:
'The Victorians', 'The Seven Ages of Britain', 'Coast', 'Countryfile'

Magazines:
'World of Interiors', 'Marie Claire', 'Tatler', 'Glamour'
