Enjoying a stunning location in the heart of the Lake District National Park, Low Wray is the only campsite on the tranquil west shore of Windermere with lake access.
This friendly site is an ideal base for walking, cycling, fishing and watersports and is located within easy reach of many Lakeland attractions including Hill Top, Beatrix Potter’s home and the beautiful lakeshore grounds of Wray Castle. This is a natural campsite for those who appreciate peace and quiet and a ‘real’ camping experience.
As this campsite is directly managed by the National Trust, all profit generated at Low Wray funds conservation projects in the area.
Great for kayaking:
Located on the quiet western shore of England’s largest lake, Low Wray is the perfect campsite to enjoy some gentle kayaking on Windermere. With stunning views of the surrounding fells such as the Fairfield Horseshoe and the Langdale Pikes, you can paddle across to Waterhead for an ice cream, venture down the lake to the Lake District Visitor Centre at Brockhole, enjoy the many tranquil picnic spots beyond Wray Castle along the shore or simply mess about in the very sheltered Low Wray Bay.
Low Wray is also centrally located with many great kayaking rivers a short drive away.
Great for mountain biking:
Our campsite on the quiet western shore of Windermere offers great off-road mountain biking for all abilities. Gentler routes lead from the campsite to the lake shore track down to Ferry Nab where bikers can cross the lake to Bowness or over Claife Heights with stunning views of the surrounding fells and great Lakeland pub conveniently located half way round a circular route.
