    The Awakening

    Stunning Lyme Park in Cheshire played a starring role in the supernatural thriller, The Awakening. Located in the wild remoteness of the Peak District, Lyme’s exterior was used to represent Rookwood, the secluded boys’ boarding school in the film. It is here that paranormal sceptic Rebecca Hall is invited by headmaster Dominic West to investigate rumours of an apparent haunting.

    Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows

    Last autumn, the cast and crew from Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows came to Knole, in Kent, transforming the Stone Court into the courtyard of a Swiss Castle for the arrival of Professor Moriarty, arch-enemy of Robert Downey Jr.’s famous detective.

    Harry Potter

    Three of our locations were used to shoot the last two Harry Potter films. Lavenham was the setting for Godric’s Hollow, once home to the Dumbledore family and Lily and James Potter, who are buried there. Freshwater West is the location of the home of Bill Weasley and Fleur Delacour, and was used for several scenes with Bellatrix and the final resting place of Dobby. Harwick Hall stars as Malfoy Manor.

    The Young Victoria

    Ham House was a key location playing Kensington Palace in 2009 film 'The Young Victoria'. Ham highlights in the film include the setting for where Victoria first sees Albert.

    Pride & Prejudice

    No list of our famous places would be complete without mentioning Lyme Park - the home of Mr Darcy in the BBC adaptation of 'Pride and Prejudice'.

    The Other Boleyn Girl

    'The Other Boleyn Girl' saw Knole's romantic courtyards and deer-park centre stage in the movie - depicting Tudor London.

    Alice in Wonderland

    Tim Burton took over Antony and turned it into a wonderland when he filmed 'Alice in Wonderland' there in 2009.

    The Duchess

    Designed to impress and amaze, it's no surprise that Kedleston was chosen as one of the major locations for 'The Duchess'. Starring Keira Knightley, the film delves into the life of Georgiana, the Duchess of Devonshire, who lived a life of political and romantic intrigue in the 18th century.
