Early spring flowers

The barometer for the arrival of spring is the humble, delicate little snowdrop. But there's lots of species starting to come into bloom now, including daffodils, hellebores, aconites, crocuses and lungwort.

Find the pink pins on the map to track down early spring flowers and, if you're lucky, queen bumblebees.

Kittiwakes

The kittiwake, a cliff-nesting gull, forms huge colonies in the summer months along our shores and they are starting to mark their territory now. Listen out for the distinctive 'kittee-wake' call that gives them their name.

To find kittiwakes, look for the dark blue pins on the map.

Great and blue tits

At this time of year the great and blue tits start looking for spots to nest in tree holes. These agile little birds are known for their acrobatics, seemingly able to cling to the most precarious of spots whilst looking for food.

You'll find these little creatures where we've marked the map with light blue pins.
