Tour de France in Buckden
There was excitement in the air on Saturday 5 July as campers and spectators at Buckden in the Yorkshire Dales saw the peloton race by.
Our promise to cyclists
We're serious about cycling here at the National Trust in Yorkshire. And we just love seeing people turn up at our places on two wheels - it's great for the environment. To say thank you, we promise that all our places are "cycle-friendly". So there's a place to lock up your bike, we'll help out if you've got a puncture, and we'll even throw in a free cuppa if you're buying a meal or snack from us.
We've teamed up with British Cycling and Sky Ride Local to offer a new programme of free guided bike rides.
No matter what your level of experience is on two wheels, we've got a range of rides, from leisurely to speedy, and our guides are always on hand to help out. The programme lasts until September 2014 so we're all set for a summer of cycling.
Goddards to Beningbrough
These longer 24 mile rides with British Cycling trained leaders, begin at Goddards, the former family home of Noel Terry, and head through York and out of the city to Beningbrough Hall, Gallery and Gardens. They take place at 10am on 20 July and 17 August.
Head past York Racecourse, through Rowntree Park and over the Ouse, then join a cycle path through woodland, villages and beautiful countryside.
Easy routes at Nostell Priory
Join the Wakefield District Cycling Forum on the third Sunday of each month at Nostell Priory. These easy rides are ideal for families, beginners and those looking for an easy way to get back in the saddle. Just the thing to get you out on your bike on a Sunday morning.
There is also a steady ride that goes through Nostell on 13 July and 28 September.
Rides to and from Fountains Abbey
There are three Sky Ride options that take in Fountains Abbey. A 28 mile long route starting from Harrogate, taking in the North Yorkshire countryside and stopping at Brimham Rocks too. These rides take place at 10am from the Dragon Road car park in Harrogate on 27 July and 24 August.
