Dog owners

Great for dogs

We've got some fantastic places for you to explore with your dog. Here are some of our favourites by region:

Bounding, running, sniffing, jumping... it's a dog's life.

Follow our lead...

Please help us keep the countryside a safe, healthy and enjoyable place for you and your dog, other visitors, wildlife and livestock:

  • Keep your dog in sight and under control - use a lead if requested
  • Don't let your dog chase wildlife or farm animals
  • Watch out for local notices. There may be restrictions in woodland or farmland at sensitive times of year, during the lambing season, or between March and the end of July when ground-nesting birds are on eggs or raising their young
  • Please always pick up after your dog. At many of our sites we've dedicated dog bins for you to use

Different restrictions apply at each place and at different times of year, so please check before you visit exactly where you and your four-legged friend can roam.

Dog-friendly places

Many of our places are as mad about dogs as you are, and welcome dogs on leads into their grounds and gardens. And now, more of our holiday cottages are welcoming well-behaved dogs, so they can join you on your break away.

Walkies!

You can find plenty of walks on our walking map, but here's some specifically for you and your dog:

Facilities

Many of our places can offer you and your dog:

  • a shady parking space in car parks
  • water for drinking bowls
  • hitching posts where dogs may be left
  • dog mess bins
  • spare leads and mess bags in case you forget yours

These facilities will vary from place to place, so do check the individual property facilities and access pages.

Assistance dogs

Dogs assisting visitors with disabilities are welcome inside all our houses, gardens, restaurants and shops. For more detailed access information take a look at the property web pages.

This section of the page features an image gallery, so if you're using a screen reader you may wish to jump to the main content.
