Follow our lead...

Please help us keep the countryside a safe, healthy and enjoyable place for you and your dog, other visitors, wildlife and livestock:

  • Always keep your dog in sight and under control - use a lead if requested
  • Never let your dog chase wildlife or farm animals
  • Observe local notices when you’re out and about. There may be restrictions in woodland or on farmland at sensitive times of year, like in spring, during the lambing season, and between the beginning of March and the end of July when ground-nesting birds are on eggs or raising their young
  • Please always pick up after your dog. We ask that if your dog fouls, particularly in car parks, on paths and by picnic spots, you pick up and remove the mess. At some of our sites we've got dedicated dog mess bins where you dispose of it

Different restrictions apply at each of our places and at different times of year, so please check before you visit exactly where you and your four-legged friend can roam.

Dog-friendly places

Many of our places are as mad about dogs as you are, and welcome dogs on leads into their grounds and gardens. At some places you'll also find home-made dog treats available in the café and special walking trails for you and your dog. Plus this year, more of our holiday cottages than ever are welcoming well-behaved dogs meaning they can join you on your break away.

Walkies!

There's nothing like taking in the outdoors on a good walk with your dog. You can find plenty of walks on our walking map, here's some specifically for you and your pooch:

Facilities

Many of our places can offer you and your dog:

  • a shady parking space in car parks
  • water for drinking bowls
  • hitching posts where dogs may be left
  • dog mess bins
  • spare leads and mess bags in case you forget yours

These facilities will vary from place to place - you'll find more detailed information on the individual property facilities and access pages.
