Lambing time

Celebrate the arrival of spring as newborn lambs frolic in the fields. Head to Home Farm to meet our rare breed ewes and lambs and if you're lucky you may see a live birth.

Rare breeds

As one of the UK’s largest rare breed centres we play a key role in conserving rare and traditional breeds of livestock. Grand White Park cattle live with Queen Victoria’s favourite breed of pig, the Berkshire. Bagot goats graze with six-horned Manx Loghtan sheep. Light Sussex chickens ensure eggs are plentiful.

Local produce

Home Farm always supplied the estate with produce. And we still do today. Our organic and Freedom Foods accredited farm rears livestock for meat and eggs. Why not pop into our shop or restaurant and try some yourself? Animals are only half the story, as we also farm 700 acres of arable land for cereals.

Shire horses

Meet the one-time powerhouses of every farm. Our team of one-tonne 'gentle giants' continues to work for a living. Take a ride on the horse and wagon, or watch them work the land.  For a more hands-on experience, sign up for one of our heavy horse driving courses.

Historic buildings

At the heart of Home Farm lie Sir John Soane’s 18th century farm buildings. Built in a rustic style, the grand threshing barn still dominates the yard. Step back in time as you explore cart sheds, stables, cattle yards and deer pens. In the heat of summer our yellow-brick dairy provides a cool refuge from the sun.
