A beautiful 20th-century masterpiece featuring colourful borders, a landscape garden and a collection of follies

Woolbeding is a modern garden of two halves, with the colour-themed garden rooms surrounding the house, plus a landscape garden. A gentle stroll over the open pasture land provides views of the River Rother and leads to the ruined abbey and on to the Chinese-style bridge and waterfall.

Please note that all visits to the gardens must be pre-booked.

A Eryngium, Big Blue in bloom

In August, Woolbeding welcomes you with a mass of echinaceas, eryngiums, stipas and other later flowering perennials. Wandering further into the garden, the garden rooms play host to agapanthus, helianthus and solidago. Tranquil green-themed planting awaits in the well garden, using hostas, acanthus and grasses. A tropical blend of oranges reds and yellows can be found in the new greenhouse, mixed with large bold foliage of bananas, cannas and catalpa.

Throughout the summer months, make some time to take a long stroll through the Pleasure Grounds: mature oaks provide refreshing shade under which to leisurely reflect whilst gazing across the lake, or tuck into a picnic with friends and family on one of the many benches scattered temptingly around the grounds.
