Make the most of your visit
Groups are always welcome at Wordsworth House and Garden. If you book in advance, you can have a free five-minute introduction by a duty manager and choose from our programme of talks and tours.
If there are 15 or more of you, those who aren’t members of the National Trust will pay just £6 to enter. (Normal price: Gift Aid £7.80, standard £7.09.)
Talks by costumed servants
Book a costumed servant talk for an extra insight into Georgian life. Talks can accommodate up to 20 people, with 12 standing and eight seated. Price: £2 per person for 10-minute talks, £2.50pp for 20-minute talks.
Listen to 18th-century music played on the harpsichord in our elegant drawing room. Performances last approximately 15 minutes and can accommodate up to 20 people as above. Price: £2.50pp.
House and garden tours
Our exclusive house tours last 30-minutes, while tours of the beautiful 18th-century garden with our head gardener take around 20 minutes. Both can accommodate up to 15 people. Price: £2pp for house tours, £2.50pp for garden tours.
There's a minimum charge of £30 for all pre-booked talks and tours.
Make a day of it
Our 18-seat café serves light lunches, homemade scones and cakes. We may be able to pre-book two tables for your use.
Why not spend the whole day in the Georgian gem town of Cockermouth? Browse the independent shops on tree-lined Main Street or take a tour round Jennings’ brewery.
We give free admission to Blue Badge guides and the leader of pre-brooked groups. Coach drivers are welcome to have a free hot drink and piece of cake in the café.
For more information, please call 01900 824805 or email Kirsty Fairhead.
We'll try to ensure your booked group is the only one in the house. However, there will be other visitors – unless you come out of hours. Out-of-hours visits cost £9 per person (including National Trust members).
We look forward to welcoming you to Wordsworth House and Garden.
