The Workhouse Experience

Visit to find out about life in a Victorian Workhouse, attitudes to the poor and how welfare has developed through the years.

Students will gain a fascinating insight through a varied learning programme delivered in this unique and atmospheric setting.

Key Stage 2

Travel back in time with your class and enter The Workhouse as Victorian paupers. Choose from a range of afternoon workshops.

Key Stage 3

Discover how the poor were treated in the 1840s with a guided tour. You may even encounter some Workhouse characters along the way!
