From spring bluebells to spectacular autumn colours, a stroll around the woods at Roseberry Topping always has something to offer.

The woods that wrap themselves around Roseberry's lower slopes are a great place to get away from it all and enjoy a quiet stroll in a beautiful setting. Oak and ash trees that are several hundred years old tower over you as you explore the network of paths that thread their way through the under-storey.

Newton Wood is renowned for having the best displays of bluebells in the area. May is the best time to come and enjoy a real British speciality: the bluebell wood in bloom.

Walking southwards through Newton Wood will lead you to Cliff Ridge Wood where there are signs of the area’s industrial past. See if you can find the remains of a narrow gauge railway that once connected Cliff Rigg Quarry to the mainline railway can still be found amongst the undergrowth.
