The warm, welcoming colours of Powis Castle in Wales hold a powerful appeal for weather presenter Sian Lloyd, especially in autumn when the trees seem to echo the rich hues of the ancient walls.

'I think hand on heart I would have to say the redness of Powis Castle is what appeals to me,' she said. 'I know it’s been described as Italian terracotta, dusky pink or whatever, but forget that - Powis Castle is a red castle! Especially in autumn.'

'You walk around the grounds and look back and see the red of the vines, the red of the leaves and Powis glowing red in the autumn sunshine. And of course red is the colour of Wales so I feel that it really pulls at the heart strings.'
