Guided walks and tours at Gibside

With over 15 miles of footpaths, Gibside is a great place to explore at your own pace, but if you'd like to discover a little more about the wildlife, history and gardens, why not join our engaging and knowledgeable guides for a wide choice of regular guided tours and special seasonal walks.

    Intrigue and Strife guided tours

    Every day, 12noon and 2pm (Mar to Oct) or 11am and 1pm (Nov to Feb, Friday, Saturday & Sunday)

    Discover the rise and fall of Gibside’s families, including the dramatic true story of Mary Eleanor Bowes, one of the 18th century's richest heiresses, whose marriage to conman ‘Stoney’ Bowes was a cause célèbre of Georgian England, and recent subject of bestselling biography, Wedlock. Free tour but normal admission prices apply.

    Visitors on a guided group tour

    First Wednesday, second Thursday, third Wednesday and fourth Saturday every month, 11am

    Exercise at a gentle pace with a friendly group and the support of specially trained volunteers while exploring Gibside’s picturesque landscape garden. All levels of fitness welcome. Free entry.

    Ramble with a ranger

    Fourth Thursday and Sunday every month, 2.30pm

    Join our rangers for a gentle wander around Gibside and a behind-the-scenes insight into spotting and caring for Gibside's wildlife. A different route and seasonal theme each month. Normal admission prices apply.
