Explore the woods this autumn

Autumn leaves carpet the ground at Alderley Edge

The woods take on a golden glow during the Autumn months, when the light catches the various shades of gold, copper and green . There really is no better time to get some fresh air and exercise in the heart of the Cheshire Countryside.

Walk for health

Walking is an ideal way for people of all ages and all levels of fitness to become more active.  The beauty of walking here at Alderley Edge is that we've lots of interesting paths throughout the woods enabling you to vary your route; level routes take you through the woods out to great views across the Cheshire Plain or for the more adventurous, slopes lead down into woody glades with interesting rock formations and streams.

Fun for all the family

On an autumn day, when the leaves cover the ground, turning the woodland carpet into a rich tapestry of colour, children (and adults alike) will find it difficult to resist the crunch of leaves under foot or the opportunity to catch a leaf as it swirls down from above!

Whilst exploring, you may come across features such as Wizards Well, Devils Grave and Golden Stone, all of which conjure up ideas of myths and legends long since told and are featured in the Weirdstone of Brisingamen story written by local author Alan Garner.
