Try a Gentle Stroll this spring at Ashridge

A group after a wet Gentle Stroll at Ashridge, Herts

Our Gentle Strolls are a firm favourite in the Ashridge calendar. Run by three of our knowledgeable volunteers, these guided walks are designed for anyone who wants to take things at a slower pace, to take in the beauty of their surroundings and learn some more about the varied landscape that we have here. Several of these walks are running this spring, to show you the best of our spring wildlife.

Signs of Spring

On Wed 10 Apr from 10.30am-12.30pm, our volunteers will be taking you out to spot the signs of spring. It’s the time of year when buds slowly emerge before bursting into a spectrum of green, and when you can start to hear the calls of migrating birds returning from their long journeys.

Please meet at the visitor centre for this walk. It costs £3 per person and there’s no need to book as you pay on the day.

Bluebells

The bluebells at Ashridge are a must see, so we're running a walk on Wed 1 May, 10.30am-12.30pm to help you do just that. The ancient woodland on the estate provides the perfect habitat for the bell-shaped flowers to thrive, turning the woodland floor into a sea of purple each year. Our volunteers know the best places to view and photograph them and are happy to share their favourite spots with you on this walk.

Please meet at Ling Ride car park, just off Beacon Road (HP4 1NF). The price for this walk is £3 per person. Again, there is no need to book as you pay on the day but please bring cash as we aren’t able to take card payments.
