Turning Pennies into Paint Jobs

A Conservator at work on an historic chair in the collection at Attingham.

Every penny we make on site goes back into our core purpose: caring for this special place to ensure that everyone can continue to enjoy it for years to come.

Simply by coming for a visit you're helping us to re-plant hedgerows, look after our wildlife habitats, restore fading colour schemes in the mansion and fund our major projects like Attingham Re-discovered. Even your stroll in the park can help us in hundreds of different ways - not bad for a day out!

Looking after a legacy

Attingham's last owners dedicated themselves to restoring the mansion and estate to their former glory.
We're continuing their legacy today, working to protect, preserve and restore our estate so that we can share Attingham's stories and natural beauty with even more people in years to come.
Your support could help us do anything from bringing our rooms back to life to looking after our wildlife. Find out more about some of the projects we are working on below.

Protect our parkland

Attingham's parkland is one of the richest and most important nature conservation sites for veteran trees and invertebrates in England. It's a designated Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI). There's a huge variety of wildlife on the estate, from deer and otters to salmon and kingfishers.

Help re-discover the mansion

For nearly 50 years - until the late 1990s - only a fraction of Attingham's many rooms were open to the public. Since then, our ambitious Attingham Re-discovered project has refreshed these rooms and revealed many others previously hidden from view.

Support our Walled Garden projects

Since 2008, we've undertaken an ambitious programme to restore the Walled Garden to full productivity. Like many formal kitchen gardens, this area declined after the Second World War and is now being brought back to life.

Ways to donate

Drop us a line

If you're thinking about donating and would like more information, or if you'd like to talk to us about supporting our projects, please email us with the subject line 'Donation to Attingham'. Thank you for your support.

Bring your books in

Our second-hand bookshop relies on donations to fill the shelves - if you're having a clear out, why not bring your unwanted books along so that they can find a new home? Every penny we make goes straight back into caring for Attingham, and all donations are gratefully received at Visitor Reception during our opening hours.

Pick a winner

You can buy a raffle ticket from one of our friendly volunteers on your visit to the mansion. Tickets cost £1 each, and help us raise money for our projects - and you could win yourself a prize too.
