Baddesley's bookshop

Rows of books in the bookshop at Baddesley

There are hundreds of books available to buy from our second-hand bookshop. Whether you're searching for the perfect summer read, a long forgotten classic or a bedtime story filled with adventure you're sure to find it here at Baddesley.

The origins of the Baddesley bookshop stem back to over 15 years ago when an enthusiastic reader and regular visitor left his ‘library’ of books to the Trust here at Baddesley. Initially set up in the first aid room, the Baddesley second-hand bookshop was born.

Our visitors expressed a great interest and book donations began to arrive steadily. We have a full range of books from science and medieval history to cookbooks and gardening. There’s something for everyone’s taste and many of them as good as new.

" When I first came in March 1995, I spent just a couple of days in the bookshop. We realised quite quickly that many of our visitors are great readers and enthusiasm for the shop just grew and grew. From humble beginnings in a tiny first aid room, we have now expanded into several rooms…and I work a full week! "

Don't forget to visit the library in the house which contains around 3000 books, some of which have been in the house for generations. The library has been catalogued by a team of volunteers and staff at Baddesley who continue to care for the books.

There is nothing better than relaxing with a cup of tea, slice of cake and a good book so pop into the Baddesley bookshop on your next visit.
