Wintry willow workshops

A fantastic willow fox checks out a clutch of chickens

We are very proud to once again showcase work by willow sculptor Jo Sadler within the garden here at Barrington as part of our ‘Jolly Mid-Winter Merriment’ Christmas celebrations.

Jo is a gardener by trade who accidently discovered the willow world when visiting the Willow and Wetlands Centre in Stoke St Gregory on a family trip.  Hugely inspired, Jo quickly embarked upon a course to learn more, and so her journey in willow sculpture began, weaving a deer, a white hare and peacock. Now she is completely hooked, making many pieces for all sorts of folk.  Jo particularly loves making hares, geese and deer, and thinks it’s possible to make anything in willow. She enjoys new projects and one off pieces including owls, fairies, peacocks and even hedgerow baskets, and is happy to accept individual commissions, or create pieces that can be hired for events, or used as table pieces for special occasions such as weddings and parties.

Jo’s instinctive use of willow to capture the essence of a creature with its movement, form and grace, makes her work very distinctive and fits naturally in our beautiful surroundings.

Look out for a foal, owls and beagle pack among others, as you make your way through the garden to the Court House.

All of the pieces will be on view until the end of December, and then available to buy direct from Jo by visiting her website

To find out more on how you can be a part of the workshops please see the events section of the website. Booking essential. All materials supplied.
