Picnic at Basildon Park
At Basildon Park we've got plenty of spaces for you to enjoy a picnic around the parkland, with beautiful views of the Thames valley.
Where to picnic
The front lawn is an ideal, spacious place to lounge on with the whole family or for those slighter rainier days, there are some covered picnic huts near the Stableyard courtyard. The friendly team at Visitor Reception can help point you in the right direction.
If you're feeling in the mood for more of an adventurous spot for your picnic, find a secluded space along one of the four way-marked walks at Basildon Park. There are a number of benches dotted around, or bring a picnic rug with you to enjoy your alfresco lunch.
Pick up some extras for your picnic
Don't panic if you turn up and find you've forgotten some key items from your picnic, the shop and tea-room at Basildon Park are well stocked with picnic essentials.
Head to the shop if you need an extra rug, or fancy a new basket to carry your picnic in. The shop also has many treats to add to your picnic; if you fancy picking up some bits when you arrive you'll find the shop in the Stableyard just opposite the visitor welcome centre.
The main tea-room is located on the ground floor of the house, where you can buy some sandwiches and make up a children's lunch to take with you. You could also grab a drink and a snack from our Toolshed tea-room, which is next to Visitor Reception in the Stableyard.
Please make sure to bring your rubbish home with you as we have a limited amount of bins.
