Hiring Bateman's from 2017

Batemans House Spring

This article was about hiring Bateman's for special occasions prior to January 2017. We are no longer able to offer this kind of hire. We do, however, still offer hire for filming and photoshoots. Bateman’s is an idyllic spot, much loved by Rudyard Kipling all his life. Nestled in a shallow valley, the house and garden were a joy and an inspiration to him, from the formal lawns and clipped yew hedges to the romantic meadow with the gently meandering river flowing through it. The unusual setting of the house provides a great backdrop for a film and many beautiful areas for a professional photoshoot.

Bateman's in Burwash

Prior to January 2017, Bateman's, the former family home of Rudyard Kipling, was available to hire for special occasions and private functions. A review of the impact of such hire on this important National Trust property revealed the necessity to withdraw the option for these kind of activities.

Other National Trust properties for hire

There are other National Trust properties close to Bateman's and in the wider south-eastern counties of England that may be hired for special occasions. Click on the articles below for more information about the special places that are available.
