Half-term trail at Bateman's

The beautiful countryside around Bateman's and the wonderful gardens just outside the front door of the house, were a great playground for two of Kipling's three children, Elsie and John.

This half-term you can discover some of the toys that Elsie and John enjoyed playing with in this enchanted playground, where Kipling encouraged his children's imagination and allowed them freedom to explore and create their own boundaries. Our half-term trail will take you out into the garden first to look for clues to the toys and then into the house to see the real thing.

  • Trail runs from Saturday 10 February to Sunday 18 February
  • Available daily from 10am to 3pm
  • £2.50 per trail
  • Prize for every completed trail.
