Basement tours at Belton House

Take a basement tour to delve into the hidden life of those below stairs who kept the mansion running.

Life below stairs

Hidden from view but very much a hive of activity, the servants working below stairs kept the mansion running, no matter what time of year.

Today, you can get a glimpse into the past life of Belton on a basement tour. You'll see where the servants worked and lived; hear about the jobs they would have to do, and perhaps even a bit of gossip.

Take the tour

Over the summer, basement tours run each day between 11am - 3pm. Tickets can be collected from the information point next to visitor reception from 9.30am.

Please note these tours are volunteer lead and subject to availability. With limited spaces they can book up quickly, so we advise collecting a ticket upon arrival to Belton to avoid disappointment.

The tour is free of charge to National Trust members. For non-members there's an upgrade fee on top of grounds admission, if a house and grounds ticket was not obtained on entry.
