Rainy days out at Beningbrough
It’s been said, “there's no such thing as bad weather, only unsuitable clothing.” So don your wellies and macs and pack up your brollies for a rainy day out at Beningbrough.
50 things to do before you're 11 ¾
With wellies and a mac, the children can still tick off their 50 things check list. Grab a scrapbook from the reception, plus the free explorer backpacks are on hand from the hall and you can go hunting for bugs, navigating with a compass and looking for birds also enjoying the wet weather. Some activities can only be achieved in the rain, so why not jump right in and catch some raindrops on your tongue.
When you need to escape the rain outside, head to the hall with its art exhibition and interactive galleries. There is lots to entertain from dressing up as lord or lady of the house, sculpting the finest nose to creating your very own digital portrait. Let your children be inspired by the artwork all around. Look up to Jodie Whittaker, the new Doctor Who, and through the glass to the fascinating sculptures by Barbara Hepworth and Henry Moore.
Upstairs we have the pre-school playroom for the smallest members of the family if you just need a dry area to let them toddle around.
During the summer holidays in August, head to the hall to go bug busting on Tuesdays or climb the stairs to the hayloft for Artrageous! craft workshops on Wednesdays and Fridays.
Great food whatever the weather
As well as the children’s lunchtime picnic boxes on sale in the restaurant, you can also buy smaller portions of some of the delicious seasonal dishes, allowing the younger ones to tuck in with you.
Indoor tables vary in size to accommodate all the family and high chairs are also available.
