Make 2017 your year to start volunteering

Published : 18 Oct 2016 Last update : 07 Jan 2017

Would you like to help us conserve one of the nation's beautiful places? At Blickling Estate, we're always looking for new volunteers to join us and there are a wide variety of opportunities available. We'll be holding a volunteer recruitment day on Saturday 14 January to tell you more about how you could get involved. So whether you're a dog lover, a gardener or you're just looking for a new fun challenge, we'd love to see you.

It's the skills, time and passion of our volunteers that make National Trust places special. Whether you're looking to help in the great outdoors, connect with the public or get up close and personal with our historic collection, we have something just for you.

The day

You’ll start the day at 10am for registration and a cuppa before chatting to staff and volunteers from various departments around the estate who will talk you through the kinds of thing you can get up to at Blickling.  You'll have a chance to let us know which roles you'd be interested in and ask any questions, before the session closes at 12:30pm.

Why volunteer?

Making new friends, working in amazing places and knowing that you're helping a great cause are three fabulous reasons to get involved in volunteering at Blickling.  You’ll be joining thousands of other National Trust volunteers in caring for the special places we all love, and become part of the incredible team at Blickling Estate who are helping to conserve this beautiful place.

New opportunities

We’re excited that 2017 will see the start of some new unique opportunities for volunteers.  For the first time we’ll be part of Trust New Art, a contemporary arts programme inspired by National Trust places and supported in partnership with Arts Council England.  We’ll therefore be looking for a small team of contemporary art lovers to help share their knowledge and enthusiasm, talking to visitors about the contemporary art we’ve commissioned.

If art’s not your thing, but you love the outdoors, enjoy talking to people or have a passion for baking, then we have just the role for you.  It’s not essential to be a history expert, but you do need to enjoy meeting new people, have a warm and friendly personality, and be willing to learn. .

Three ways you could get involved
