Make 2018 your year to start volunteering

Published : 01 Aug 2018 Last update : 13 Sep 2018

It's the skills, time and passion of our volunteers that make National Trust places special. Whether you're looking to help in the great outdoors, connect with the public or get up close and personal with our historic collection, we have something just for you.

Would you like to help us conserve beautiful places?

At Blickling Estate, we're always looking for new volunteers and with a wide variety of opportunities available, it's a great year to join us.  We'll be holding a volunteer recruitment day on Saturday 13 October 2018 to tell you more about how you could get involved.  So whether you're a book lover, a gardener, a baker, or you're just looking for a fun new challenge, we'd love to see you.

The day

Meet us in the Old School at the top of the main car park at 10am for registration and a cuppa. Enjoy chatting to staff and volunteers from various departments around the estate who will talk you through all the things you can get involved with at Blickling.  You'll then have a chance to let us know which roles you'd be interested in and ask any questions, before the session closes at 3pm.

Why volunteer?

Making new friends, working in amazing places and knowing that you're helping a great cause are three fabulous reasons to get involved in volunteering at Blickling.  You’ll be joining thousands of other National Trust volunteers in caring for the special places we all love, and become part of the incredible team at Blickling Estate who are helping to conserve this beautiful place.

Six ways you could get involved

We'd love to meet you

Our recruitment day is free, so why not come along and say hello? If you have any questions please don't hesitate to get in touch, click here or call 01263 738027.

New opportunities

We’re excited that 2018 has seen the start of some new and unique opportunities for volunteers. This year we're all about books, as we celebrate the story of Blickling's impressive, eighteenth century Long Gallery library, which contains over 12,500 volumes. As a result, we have positions in our second-hand bookshop, as well as an exciting new role as a 'book tour' guide.

If books aren't your thing, but you have other interests (such as the great outdoors), then we have just the role for you.  It’s not essential to be a history expert, but you do need to enjoy meeting new people, have a warm and friendly personality and be willing to learn new things.

A passion for fundraising

As a charity, we rely on visits, memberships and donations to continue to protect, conserve and open up special places across the UK for everyone to cherish and enjoy. Therefore fundraising is a key element of volunteering for National Trust, with plenty of exciting opportunities on offer to help you share a passion for history, heritage and natural environments with our visitors.

We want you to learn, discover and develop with us, so at Blickling Estate we’ll do everything we can to offer you the training and support that you need to achieve your goals. We couldn’t do it without you!

For ever, for everyone.
