Cadbury Camp ramble
This short walk through the Somerset countryside will give you the chance to spot a variety of wildlife, including the silver-washed fritillary butterfly and the six-spot burnet moth. You'll also encounter the famous Cadbury Camp Iron Age hillfort, along with sweeping views across the Severn Estuary and Mendip Hills.

Start point
Tickenham Village Hall car park. Grid ref: ST445715.
Step 1
With Tickenham Village Hall behind you, turn left onto the pavement that runs alongside Clevedon Road (B3130). Continue until you reach a bridleway sign just past a bus stop.
Step 2
Turn left onto the bridleway and continue up the hill. When you join the driveway to the cottages, continue straight ahead, following the bridleway with the golf course on your right.
Step 3
Continue along the bridleway, past a kissing gate on your left. You'll soon reach a metal field gate with a wooden bridle gate to the right. Walk through it.
Step 4
Follow the bridleway with the fence on your left. Continue straight ahead through another metal field gate, then turn left onto Cadbury Camp Lane. Pass the Old Pound on the right and continue up the track.
Step 5
Walk through the small metal pedestrian gate on the left, onto the Cadbury Camp site.
Step 6
Continue along the footpath to the information panel on your right. Go through the entrance to the Iron Age hillfort.
Step 7
Bear left and follow the footpath across the centre of the camp. You'll reach the inner rampart on the other side of the fort.
Step 8
Exit the hillfort through the ramparts, then turn left, keeping the ramparts on your left. Bear right towards a bench, but before you get to it, turn right and head down the hill along the footpath.
Step 9
Continue forward over the stile, exiting the land in our care. Follow the path down a steep, grassy hill, then go down a short set of steps and through a kissing gate.
Step 10
Follow the narrow footpath down the hill, passing an orchard on your right. Exit the footpath through a pedestrian gate onto Clevedon Road, turn right and return to the village hall car park.
