Young volunteers at Brimham Rocks

Retail volunteer Ella helping out at Brimham Rocks Shop, North Yorkshire.

Ella has chosen Brimham Rocks as her place of volunteering to support her working towards the Duke of Edinburgh Award. Ella is invaluable help in the shop on weekends and is also picking up useful skills to add onto her CV while volunteering at Brimham Rocks.

"As part of my DofE Award I have to complete a section on volunteering. There were many organisations I could have approched but because I live in a area of such outstanding natural beauty I decided to volunteer for the National Trust at Brimham Rocks. I know the area reasonably well and wanted to learn what goes on behind the scenes.

My role in the souvenir shop was varied. This involved helping at the till, pricing items, creating displays and helping with the exhibition upstairs. This will be helpful retail experience as hopefully it will further my skills for any further jobs.
" I’ve really enjoyed my time volunteering. Everyone works so hard in a lovely friendly environment and made it easy for me to fit in."
- Ella Batchelor, Retail Volunteer

I had a fun time and would strongly recommend it to anyone wanting to further their skills in dealing with members of the public or helping with the National Trust Environment."
