Family activities this May half-term

Family activity in woodland

Throughout 2017 you will be able to have a go at our adventure trail which, if you choose, can take you right across the island discovering new sides to old stories with a Brownsea twist.

During the school holidays you can wander through the wild woods, dip your toes in the water at the beach or head to our natural play area.  There is plenty to occupy your kids for the whole day on Brownsea Island.  You can get up close to nature and soak up the sights and sounds of the surrounding natural environment and see the wonderous wildlife that makes the island their home.

When you head up to the Visitor Centre you will find a selection of different trails or activities to choose from.  New for 2017 is the Great Brownsea Storybook trail.  You can follow in the footsteps of old villains with new names and complete the different activities marked on the map.  For the more adventurous you can follow the trail right out to places less known and for the littlies you can still have loads of fun but on a shorter route, suggested donation for the trail is £2.

There are also a number of other trails available from the Visitor Centre including the tree climbing, the smuggler's and the squirrel trail.  Tracker packs are also available that feature a selection of different nature based activities.  You can bring along your 50 things to do before you're 113/4 booklet or pick one up in the Visitor Centre. There will be lots of opportunities to complete many different activities such as climb a tree, skim a stone, track a wild animal (such as a red squirrel, sika deer or a rabbit), make a trail with sticks, go swimming in the sea, go bird watching(don't forget your binoculars) plus many more.
