Christmas through the ages at Canons Ashby

A festive wreath on the door and warm glow through a window.

Feast your eyes on the festive traditions of the past throughout the house, let the kids enjoy the Reindeer Trail in the grounds, take a refreshing stroll in the garden or treat yourself to something tasty in the tea-room or shop.

Christmas in the house

Enjoy Christmas through the ages between 30 November and 22 December, 11-3pm (last admission to the house at 2.30pm). From a grand Tudor banquet to a merry 1980s party – great to help you feel festive and full of seasonal cheer. Don’t forget to take a deep breath and fill your nose with the scent of natural Christmas decorations.

If you visit on the weekends of 7-8 or 14-15 December you may even meet Father Christmas as he checks that everything is in order in time for the big day. And kids can pick up a present from our Christmas lucky dip bag for £2 a go!

Enjoy the fresh air

Though the flower beds aren't in bloom, there are plenty of reasons to get out into the garden. Enjoy the sharp clear lines of the formal garden and baroque vistas through the leafless trees whilst getting some fresh air on a crisp winter’s day.

Look out for the hand-made Christmas wreaths on the garden wall, and look up into the trees in the lime avenue for the beautiful baubles.

Pick up a Reindeer Trail for £3 per trail and get out in the Spinney and Paddock with the kids and have fun together as a family. Don’t forget to claim your victory prize and sticker from the Coach House Shop when you’ve finished!
