Five Centuries of Christmas at Canons Ashby
Enjoy the warmth and colour of five centuries of festive traditions throughout the house, let the kids enjoy the Holly and Ivy trail in the grounds, take a refreshing stroll in the garden or treat yourself to a sweet and tasty treat in the tea room or shop.
Immerse yourself in 500 years of Christmas traditions between 8 and 16 December, 11-3pm (last admission to the house at 2.30pm). Explore the house whilst you travel through time, from Tudor treats to more familiar 20th century indulgences.
Help decorate our giant tree in the Great Hall, discover the origins of our best-loved festive habits and see what life was like without Christmas in Puritan England. Admire the opulence of the dining table in Georgian times or relive your childhood with the best of 20th century fun. Kids can pick up a present from our Christmas lucky dip bag for £2 a go!
If you visit on one of the weekends you may even meet Father Christmas as he checks that everything is in order in time for the big day..
Though the flower beds aren't in bloom, there are plenty of reasons to get out into the garden. Enjoy the sharp clear lines of the formal garden and baroque vistas through the leafless trees whilst getting some fresh air on a crisp winter’s day.
Pick up a Holly and Ivy Trail and get out in the Spinney and Paddock with the kids. Can you find all our festive items? Don’t forget to claim your victory prize and sticker from the Coach House Shop when you’ve finished!
