Join us for our annual Pumpkinfest event on Saturday 20 and Sunday 21 October for a fabulous autumn adventure. Pick, scoop out and carve a pumpkin, enter a scarecrow into the scarecrow competition and solve the clues on the trail.
Select one of over 2,000 pumpkins and draw your own spooky face or design a totally different artistic creation*, then head over to the scooping station to make sure your gourd is ready for carving! One of our team of staff and vounteers will then do all the dangerous carving with sharp tools so you don't have to.
*Although they're very good, they aren't trained artists, so don't make it too complicated for them!
Small £2, Medium £3, Large £4
Create your own scarecrow at home and bring it along to Pumpkinfest to add to the Scarecrow competition. We will be taking into consideration inventiveness, best dressed and overall scarecrow-iness. Registration opens at 10am until 3pm with judging at 3.10pm. Categories are under 12s and over12s.
Please make sure your scarecrow has a tag with your name, age and contact number.
Discover stories in the mansion house
Follow the yellow brick road to Castle Ward mansion house over the weekend and discover the story of a girl and her friends on a journey to Oz.
Food & Music
Take the Scarecrow Trail around the estate, solve the clues and pick up a treat (or a trick) at the end. Enjoy live music out on the Front Lawn and in the Stableyard. Weather permitting, you'll even be able to enjoy a fairytale-style carriage ride around the estate.
At the Stableyard, visit the Coach House Tea-room for a variety of tasty lunches and snacks, browse the Second-hand Bookshop to pick up a bargain and visit the Gift Shop to pick up a few gifts for friends, family or yourself. Down at the Farmyard, the Trail Head cafe will be serving some hot drinks and snacks to go and the Slaughterhouse Shop will be open for all your GoT gifts!
Around the estate, enjoy the Barn which is perfect for play indoor and outdoors, have a go on the ride-on tractors outside. Visit the adventure and woodland playgrounds where both older and younger children will find plenty to explore.
After the madness of Pumpkinfest, why not take a breather on an autumn stroll around the estate and our 34km of trails. Visit Temple Water or Strangford lough to appreciate the natural beauty of the changing colours at Castle Ward.
