Castlefield Viaduct's ideas and events space

People walking along Castlefield Viaduct

Phase one of the Castlefield Viaduct project will include the creation of a covered ideas and events space where visitors and the local community can share ideas about the future of the viaduct. The space will also play host to a wide range of workshops and activities.

Share your thoughts

We’re keen to hear ideas and feedback from visitors and the local community, which will help to shape the long-term future of Castlefield Viaduct.

There haven’t been many projects quite like this before, so we still have plenty to learn about how creating an urban park on the viaduct will work in practice; from which plants grow best in this setting to how the space should be used. Designing, creating and testing ideas with others is a vital part of ensuring that the viaduct serves the needs and wishes of as many people as possible.

Inside the events space you’ll find plenty of information about the plans for the future of the viaduct, along with all the latest updates about how the project is progressing. You’ll also be able to share feedback about your visit along with any ideas you have for the second phase of the project.

Events and activities

During the year-long pilot, the events space will also be used for a whole range of events, talks and creative sessions. These will include ‘takeovers’ by our project partners, who will be running everything from apple juice pressing and foraged cocktail making to storytelling events focusing on the woodland heritage of the area, and discussions on how we might learn to live more in tune with nature.

Keep an eye on this page for details of upcoming events.
