Rainy day options at Claremont

Don’t let the weather keep you inside, lift your spirits with a visit to Claremont for a spot of puddling jumping and wildfowl watching.

Lakeside walks

The level paths around the lake are well paved, providing easy access for buggies and wheelchairs. They are also well away from the muddiest puddles so you can navigate the lakeside with ease.

The Thatched Cottage

Should the rain become heavier, the Thatched Cottage provides a great shelter of historical interest, with Georgian games, puzzles and dressing up clothes to amuse younger visitors.  A rainy day becomes brighter with play, and it’s a wonderful way to create memories all year round.

Getting crafty

Claremont holds frequent crafternoons for those determined not to let rain dampen their creativity. There are arts and craft workshops for every season to make Christmas wreaths,  pumpkin lanterns or Easter crafts.  We use natural materials gathered from our grounds so you can create original masterpieces whatever the weather. See our What's On page for upcoming events.

Tea-room treats

Even the hardiest explorer needs a rest, and the warm, inviting café has a delicious menu of snacks and reviving hot food and drinks . If you’d like to make your visit even more memorable, the shop has a great range of colourful gifts and souvenirs to chase the grey away. We've got scarves and gloves, books and biscuits. We even sell umbrellas!

And of course rain is essential for your own garden to grow.  Gardening is a national obsession, and to help you create your own beautiful landscape, our greenhouse has lovely plants and gardening  accessories to splash out on so you can get digging as soon as the clouds disappear.

It’s business as usual in the rain at Claremont so bring wellies and waterproofs and join the ducks for fun all year round.
