An easy and varied walk, with clear paths providing views over parkland, heathland and the lake. The route is marked with orange (one direction) and olive (reverse direction) waymarks.

Start point
National Trust Clumber Park main car park, grid ref SK625745
Step 1
Starting from the visitor facilities, walk towards the lake then take the path that leads to the toilets.
Step 2
Walk past the toilets, turn left and you'll see the first orange marker on a wooden stump on your left. Follow the path right as it becomes a road, which is usually free of cars. Continue along the road to a crossroads. Cross over with care and continue along the road opposite.
Step 3
Follow this road until you reach Lime Tree Avenue. Cross this busy road with care and turn right, walking on the wide grassy verge. After a few metres, turn left along a tarmac road, which is also generally free of traffic.
Step 4
Soon after reaching an area of heathland, you'll notice an information board on your left. Just after this, on your right, take the grassy track leading into woodland. As you bear left, the path becomes more distinct. Continue along the path as it goes slightly uphill. Pass through a gate and just afterwards you'll reach a tarmac road.
Step 5
Cross the road with care and follow the path opposite back into woodland. At a T junction with Red Shale Path, turn left. Follow the waymarks as you take several turns left and right. Eventually you'll reach an information board. Carry straight on.
Step 6
When you reach Lime Tree Avenue, cross with care and pick up the path on the other side going in the same direction. Where the path splits, take the right fork. Be careful as you cross the tarmac road and carry straight on.
Step 7
At the next road, cross with care and follow the track uphill through woodland. Go straight over at the crossroad of tracks. Pass through the stone pillars and enter the Pleasure Grounds through a stone archway.
Step 8
Once in the Pleasure Grounds, follow the orange markers via the chapel back to the visitor facilities.
