Volunteering open days at Coleridge Cottage

Big changes are afoot at Coleridge Cottage. From the 3rd of March 2018, we will be open seven days a week until the 28th of October, and we need a few more helping hands.

Whether it's making new friends, learning new skills, or helping look after a fantastic place, there are many reasons to volunteer. Meet current volunteers and staff at Coleridge Cottage to find out how you can get involved.

What can I do?

Volunteers help look after Coleridge Cottage in a number of ways: bringing the story of Coleridge to life by talking to visitors, serving tea and delicious cake in our busy tearoom, and selling books and gifts in our shop.

From the 3rd of March 2018, we will be open seven days a week rather than five during the main season until the end of October. More than ever we are looking for passionate, friendly people to join us in bringing this special place to life.

How do I find out more?

You can join us on an open day in February. These informal sessions give you a chance to chat with current volunteers at the Cottage, meet staff members Tina and Kate, have a look round the Cottage and find out more about the different roles. If you're really keen on the day, you can even book in a start date! You don't need to have a degree in Coleridge - a full induction and shadowing sessions will be provided to make sure you are comfortable in your role.

The dates and times of the open days are as follows:

  • Wednesday 7th February, 12-3pm

  • Saturday 10th February, 12-3pm

If you would like to attend, or are interested in volunteering but cannot make it to an open day, we would love to hear from you. Call the Cottage to talk to Kate or Tina on 01278 732662, or via email

Our Room Guides are known for their warm welcomes and tantalizing tales that enchant our visitors. No need to be a Coleridge expert - learning as you go is part of the fun!

Tearoom Volunteer at Coleridge Cottage

It wouldn't be a National Trust visit without some mouth-watering treats served by a friendly volunteer. Our little tearoom may be small, but if you enjoy being kept busy, this is definitely the role for you!
